June 23: LHP placed on 15-day IL (left forearm flexor strain)
Garrett was scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday after experiencing left elbow discomfort following his bullpen session on Friday. He had a late start to the season after arriving at Spring Training with shoulder soreness before dealing with left shoulder impingement, then dealing with other setbacks.

Through what has been an up-and-down season, Garrett has delivered in key moments -- including his first career shutout on May 24.

Garrett underwent Tommy John surgery as a prospect in 2017. When asked whether the flexor strain was similar to what he felt back then, he replied, "It's hard to say."

"It's a long time since I've had any elbow issues, really since my surgery in 2017," Garrett said. "So it's been a while, but like I said, it doesn't seem something super serious."

June 23: RHP and LHP recalled; LHP and RHP transferred to 60-day IL; RHP optioned to Triple-A Jacksonville
Tyler, who the Marlins added via a Minor League deal this offseason, was called up to make the start in Miami’s series finale vs. Seattle on Sunday afternoon. It is Tyler’s first career Major League start. He made one relief appearance for Miami in April, then was sent outright to Triple-A Jacksonville after he had been designated for assignment and cleared waivers. Tyler has a 2.80 ERA over 10 appearances (eight starts) for the Jumbo Shrimp this season.

Emanuel gives the Marlins some relief for their already-depleted bullpen. He has made four relief appearances for Miami this year across three stints in the Majors; this is is fourth time in the bigs this season, after he was designated for assignment on Wednesday, then sent outright to Jacksonville on Friday.

Luzardo, who was placed on the 15-day IL less than 24 hours prior, and Cabrera were transferred to the 60-day IL to open space on the 40-man roster. Luzardo’s lumbar stress reaction will take 4-6 weeks to recover from. He would be eligible to return from the IL at the earliest on Aug. 21.

Cabrera has not pitched in the Majors since early May, when he went on the IL with right shoulder impingement. He was sent on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Jacksonville on June 19 and has made one start thus far. He will be eligible to come off the IL on July 7.

Anderson started in Luzardo's place on Saturday, allowing six runs (five earned) over 3 1/3 innings.

June 23: CF back atop lineup after early exit
Chisholm said his arm cramped when he made the cutoff throw on Ryan Bliss' fourth-inning single during Saturday's game. Chisholm struck out in the bottom half of the frame before Vidal Bruján pinch-hit for him in the sixth. Chisholm was able to get treatment for the right biceps tightness and was in the starting lineup on Sunday.

"Injuries happen," Chisholm said Saturday. "I've been going through it for a couple of years. Now I'm just trying to take care of my body and make sure I can make it through 162 [games] instead of me going out there and telling [manager] Skip [Schumaker] like, 'Hey, I'm going to finish the game,' go out there, try to make a throw and then I'm out for the season. So I always appreciate Skip for coming and handling those situations really well with me."

RHP (left hamstring strain)
Expected return: Late June/early July
After tossing two scoreless innings for Single-A Jupiter on June 14, Hoeing needed 36 pitches to record five outs on June 20. His next outing will be three frames on June 25. Due to the number of starting pitching injuries, the Marlins are keeping an open mind as to what role Hoeing might fill upon his return.

Hoeing previously threw 26 pitches in live batting practice in cages because of poor weather on June 11. He felt mild tightness after beginning his rehab assignment on May 21 with two innings with Triple-A Jacksonville. He said he first tweaked his hamstring during Spring Training but pitched through it. (Last updated: June 21)

Expected return: Mid-late July
Sánchez is asymptomatic while throwing. After experiencing a big dip in velocity in his May 31 start vs. Texas, he was placed on the IL on June 2. 60-day injured list

LHP (lumbar stress reaction)
Expected return: 4-6 weeks
Luzardo, who was scratched from his June 22 start, had been dealing with the back issue for a couple of weeks, per manager Skip Schumaker. He was placed on the 15-day IL on June 22, then was transferred to the 60-day the next day. (Last updated: June 23)

RHP (right shoulder impingement)
Expected return: July 7 at the earliest
Cabrera threw 49 pitches across three innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on June 19 to begin a rehab assignment. He is scheduled to throw four frames or 60 pitches on June 25.

Cabrera had thrown a bullpen in Jupiter, Fla., on June 17, and two innings (35 pitches) in a live bullpen session on June 14 after previously tossing a 30-pitch up-down session on June 11.

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: 2025
Alcantara, who has been playing catch off and on, is rehabbing with the team in Miami. He initially felt the discomfort on the 94th and final pitch of his Sept. 3 start against the Nationals and was diagnosed with a right forearm flexor strain. An MRI later revealed a right UCL sprain. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sept. 21 but shut himself down after experiencing forearm tightness. (Last updated: June 21)

RHP (right UCL tear)
Expected return:
2025

Pérez's recurring nail issue had forced him to exit for precautionary reasons after just 14 pitches on March 13, but the bigger issue arose the following morning when he reported feeling soreness in his right elbow. (Last updated: June 21)

LHP (left elbow ulnar neuritis)
Expected return: Post-All-Star break
Simpson, who underwent surgery for left elbow ulnar neuritis on April 23, is continuing his throwing program in Jupiter, Fla.

Simpson had tossed one inning for Single-A Jupiter on April 6 after previously completing one inning and 25 pitches in an extended spring game on April 2 before experiencing a setback. Simpson, who opened the season on the injured list (retroactive to March 25), didn't pitch in a Grapefruit League game after his Feb. 27 outing because he began to feel discomfort. He was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 20. (Last updated: June 21)

OF (left hip surgery; No. 5 on the Marlins top prospect list)
Expected return: 2025
