HOUSTON -- ’s go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth inning propelled the Orioles to a 3-2 victory over the Astros on Friday at Daikin Park, extending Baltimore’s season-best winning streak to five games.

Cam Sanders, a right-hander who was acquired from Pittsburgh on July 13 and called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, put the Orioles in position for their rally by getting Baltimore out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh to keep it a 2-1 game. After lefty Grant Wolfram walked Yordan Alvarez to put three men on, Sanders struck out Isaac Paredes and retired Christian Walker on a full-count foul pop to catcher Adley Rutschman.

Rutschman doubled leading off the eighth against Astros reliever Bryan King, and Ward followed with his seventh home run of the season.
