High School, where he went 9-2 with a 1.07 ERA and 98 strikeouts across 72.0 innings pitched during his senior season...Also played point guard on the basketball team...Attended Northwest Florida State College (2016-17) before transferring to Louisiana State University (2018)...His father, Scott, was a Major League pitcher from 1993-99 with San Diego, Seattle, Detroit and Chicago (NL), posting a 4.86 ERA (681.2 IP/368 ER)...His mother, Linda, played softball at Long Beach State (Calif.) University...Was signed by Cubs scout Trey Forkerway.

Cam spent the entire 2023 campaign with Triple-A Iowa, moving to a full-time relief role for the first time in his career...Appeared in a career-high 51 games, pitching to a 7-2 record with a 5.15 ERA (37 ER/64.2 IP) and five saves...Stuck out 97 batters in 64.2 IP, the most among Cubs Minor League relievers...Among Minor League relievers with at least 50 appearances, his 97 strikeouts ranked second, while his 31.2% strikeout rate was the sixth-highest...Did not allow more than two runs in an outing in each of his first 14 appearances through May 21, posting a 3.12 ERA (6 ER/17.1 IP) during the run...Recorded at least three strikeouts 13 times, including a season-high five strikeouts twice, May 7 at Columbus and June 9 at St. Paul.
