Remembering those in the Phillies family whom we lost in the 2023 calendar year. (Names appear in alphabetical order.)

Righthanded pitcher Jack Baldschun, died June 6, Green Bay, WI; age 86. Relieved in 65 games or more for each of five Phillies seasons (1961-65), unmatched in franchise history.

Righthanded pitcher Bill Campbell, January 6, Palatine, IL; age 74. 15 years in Majors including 57 relief appearances on the 1984 Phillies.

Catcher-manager Pat Corrales, August 27, Big Canoe, GA; age 82. Originally signed by Phillies, two seasons with them, 1964-65. Manager, 1982-83.

Righthanded pitcher Roger Craig, June 4, San Diego, CA; age 93. Concluded 12-year Major League with Phillies in 1966.

Shortstop Dick Groat, April 27, Pittsburgh, PA; age 92. 14 seasons in majors, including 1966-67 with Phillies.

Righthander Dick Hall, June 18, Timonium, MD; age 92. Swarthmore College grad who pitched in the Majors for 16 seasons. 1967-68 for Phillies.

Lefthanded pitcher Willie Hernandez, November 20, Sebring, FL; age 69. 1983 with Phillies during a 13-year career. Originally signed by Phillies, 1973.

Catcher-first baseman Pete Koegel, February 4, Kingston, NY; age 75. 1971-72 with Phillies during a three-year career.

Catcher Tim McCarver, February 16, Memphis, TN; age 81. Began a 21-year career in the Majors as a 17-year-old with St. Louis Cardinals in 1969. Played for Phillies 1970-72, 1975-80. Phillies broadcaster 1980-82. Hall of Fame broadcaster.

Dr. Phillip Marone, October 11, Philadelphia, PA; age 93. Phillies team physician, 1972-1999, longest in franchise history.

Infielder Bobby Morgan, June 1, Oklahoma City, OK; age 96. Second oldest Phillies alumnus (Bobby Shantz, 97) when Mr. Morgan passed away. 1954-57 with Phillies during eight seasons in the Majors. Also managed in Phils Minor League system, 1964-66.

Outfielder Ted Savage, January 12, St. Louis, MO; age 85. Originally signed by the Phillies, 2/15/60. Made debut with Phils, 1962. Career included 6 other clubs.

Outfielder-first baseman-third baseman Frank Thomas, January 16, Pittsburgh, PA; age 93. Seven teams in 16-year career, including Phillies, 1964-65.

Outfielder Lee Tinsley, January 12, Scottsdale, AZ; age 53. 1996 with Phillies in a six-year career.

Right-handed pitcher Dave Wehrmeister, December 6, Walnut Creek, CA; age 71. Seven Phillies games in 1984 during a six-year career.

Outfielder Mike Young, May 28, Atilio Vivacqua, Brazil; age 63. Eight years in Majors including 1988 with Phillies.
