Player - OF Jhailyn Ortiz, Lakewood… Ortiz, 19, batted .435 (10-23) with three doubles, two home runs, six RBI, five runs scored, one stolen base and posted a 1.284 OPS in six games. He was also selected as South Atlantic League Player of the Week. Additionally, he has nine multi-hit games over his last 17 contests (since May 26), batting .369 (24-65) over that stretch. A native of the Dominican Republic, Ortiz was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on July 9, 2015.
Pitcher - LHP Ranger Suarez, Reading… The 22-year-old tossed 7.0 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, while allowing just two hits and one walk in his start on June 7 at Altoona. Since April 10, he has recorded six quality starts in his last eight outings, posting a 2.25 ERA (13 ER, 52.0 IP), 0.90 WHIP and allowing only one home run in that span. The Venezuela native was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on April 1, 2012.
