ARLINGTON -- The First Look Tours have begun at Globe Life Field.

Fans taking the tours will also get to see to see the Rangers' “Mount Rushmore.”

That is a series of eight shadow box displays prominently paying homage to some of the great players and moments in Rangers history. They are mounted in the left-field concourse just outside the North Plaza entrance to the ballpark.

“We like to think of this as our front door and these displays are truly a work of art,” said Joe Januszewski, Rangers executive vice president and chief revenue and marketing officer. “They are a fantastic reminder of our great Rangers history. We look at this as an entry and welcome mat for this spectacular venue.”

The display includes the five players whose jerseys have been retired by the Rangers: Nolan Ryan, Ivan Rodriguez, Johnny Oates, Adrián Beltré and Michael Young. There are also two displays celebrating the 2010 and ’11 American League pennants.

Each display includes a sculpted Rangers uniform jersey from each honoree’s era appearing to hang from a locker. Each uniform was hand carved and mounted in a custom-stained wood cabinet along with an iconic photo and the honoree’s name etched in gold.

Finally, there is a shadow box display honoring the late Tom Vandergriff, the former Arlington mayor who spent more than a decade trying to get a Major League team to North Texas. He finally succeeded in 1972 by helping bring the Washington Senators to Texas to become the Rangers.

“These boxes and displays will remind fans of some of the greatest moments in Rangers history, where they were and who they were with,” said Chuck Morgan, executive vice president for ballpark entertainment. “These displays will allow this beautiful ballpark, Globe Life Field, to tip its cap at every game and every event from Arlington Stadium and Globe Life Park.”

The one-hour tour offered to fans began on Monday, and tickets can be purchased at www.texasrangers.com/tours. All fans taking the tour will be required to have their temperature taken at the front door and must follow posted safety and health protocols. They are also asking for those attending to wear a cloth face covering (Globe Life Field-branded masks will be available with ticket purchases while supplies last).

The tours allow fans to get a behind-the-scenes look at Globe Life Field, including premier club, dining, entertainment and suite venues. Tickets for First Look Tours are available through July, with the exception of dates with pre-existing events.

“We are thrilled to invite our fans to take their first look at Globe Life Field,” said Sean Decker, Rangers executive vice president for sports and entertainment.

The Rangers also announced that Texas Live! will begin re-opening on Thursday. The first venues will be Arlington Backyard, an outdoor concert and entertainment facility that will include live music every night. The Lockhart Barbecue kiosk will also be opening.
