Caden Bodine just keeps hitting.
In only his third game since being promoted to Triple-A, MLB’s No. 51 prospect delivered a three-hit performance, headlined by a pair of homers in Durham’s 7-0 win over Norfolk on Friday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Across four Minor League levels this season, Bodine is hitting .348, which ranks third among all Minor Leaguers.
The Rays' No. 3 prospect kickstarted his night in the bottom of the second as he lined an 0-2 changeup from right-hander Trace Bright (Orioles) into left field for a base hit. This season, Bodine has thrived when behind in the count, posting a .336 average and .821 OPS.
Sporting a 60-grade hit tool, Bodine has some of the best bat-to-ball skills in the Minor Leagues. Entering Friday’s contest, he owned an 89.4 percent contact rate in 424 at-bats, per FanGraphs. That would rank fifth among all qualified MLB hitters and ahead of names like Nico Hoerner and Kevin McGonigle.
After striking out in the third, MLB’s No. 5 catching prospect dug back into the left-handed batter's box three frames later. Finding himself in another two-strike hole, he turned on a 1-2 fastball and golfed it over the wall in right for his first long ball at Triple-A. With his first roundtripper against the Tides, Bodine has now homered at all four full-season Minor League levels this year.

Strolling back to the plate in the seventh, the switch-hitting Bodine flipped around to hit from the right side against southpaw Luis De León (BAL No. 7). Rather than work the count, Bodine ambushed a first-pitch changeup and launched it just over the left-field wall for his second homer of the night and 16th long ball of the season. It marked his first time going deep from both sides of the plate in the same game as a pro.
While not necessarily known for his power, Bodine has flashed pop this season. His .526 slugging percentage ranks fourth among qualified hitters in the Rays system.
Acquired in the deal that sent Shane Baz to the Orioles, Bodine has been one of the more consistent offensive producers in the Rays system in 2026, as he ranks top 10 in the organization in RBIs (94, first), hits (149, first) runs (80, second), OPS (.941, third) and total bases (225, second).
