2020 vision for Reds includes AL East battles

August 12th, 2019

WASHINGTON -- Major League Baseball released the 2020 regular season schedules for all 30 clubs on Monday. Of course, in Cincinnati, there is one date everyone wants to know first.

Opening Day at Great American Ball Park will be on March 26 vs. the Cardinals to begin a three-game series.

The majority of the Reds’ Interleague Play opponents will be American League East teams. The very first road series, in fact, will take them to Joey Votto’s hometown of Toronto March 30-April 1.

Other AL East road trips include the Yankees (April 17-19) and the Red Sox -- which will be a two-game series from Aug. 18-19, with Cincinnati then hosting Boston and Madeira, Ohio, native Andrew Benintendi from Sept. 15-16.

The Rays come to town July 31-Aug. 2, and the Orioles follow from Aug. 31-Sept. 2.

The annual Ohio Cup series vs. the Indians from the AL Central will be four games total -- May 19-20 at Cleveland and July 7-8 in Cincinnati. The games at Progressive Field will mark starting pitcher ’s first time seeing his old team since the Trade Deadline blockbuster that sent Yasiel Puig to Cleveland.

Other key home dates include the Braves (April 27-29), Dodgers (June 9-11) and Cubs (June 4-7, June 23-25 and Aug. 11-12).

Once again, the regular season will conclude on the road at Pittsburgh, with a four-game series Sept. 24-27.
