Shohei Ohtani won't make his scheduled start against the D-backs on Friday night due to ongoing left knee irritation.
In light of the injury, Ohtani has also bowed out of next week's All-Star Game in Philadelphia to receive treatment; he had been slated to serve as the National League's starting designated hitter after finishing as the top vote-getter on the fan ballot.
Ohtani, who has been dealing with the issue since at least June 11, is expected to remain in the Dodgers' lineup through the rest of the weekend.
On the season, Ohtani is hitting .290/.405/.534 with 20 home runs and 56 RBIs alongside a 1.79 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 14 starts (85 2/3 IP).
