MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins’ new look will be unveiled on Nov. 18 at 11:30 a.m. CT through a public event featuring players, staff and executives at the Mall of America Rotunda, the club announced on Wednesday.

Earlier this fall, the club announced that it will “refresh” its markings and uniforms as part of its first concerted efforts to do so since 1987, aiming for a look that they described as more “fresh” and “clean.” This will go hand-in-hand with a new scoreboard and other elements of the in-game experience to provide fans with a new look for Opening Day 2023.

"It will be kind of an evolution of the past with what we think is a fresh look," said Dustin Morse, the Twins' vice president of communications and content, in September. "I think this will be a nice combination of Twins history with a new, clean, fresh feel that we're pretty excited about."

The current block “Twins” script across the front of the home uniform has been in place since that redesign in ‘87, with the current home uniforms having been in place since 2015 and the two-uniform road set in rotation since ‘11. Minnesota has said that the base color set of red, white and navy blue will remain in place.

The Twins had already announced that their clubhouse store at Target Field will close from Nov. 8-18 in preparation for the upcoming brand refresh.

Twins announce staff promotions

The Twins remained hopeful following the season that manager Rocco Baldelli’s entire coaching staff would return for the ‘23 season. They will supplement the group with the promotion of Derek Shomon to assistant hitting coach, where he’ll work alongside incumbent hitting coaches David Popkins and Rudy Hernandez.

Shomon will enter his third season in the Twins’ organization and his first on a Major League coaching staff. He previously served as the hitting coach for Minnesota’s Double-A Wichita affiliate in ‘22 and its Single-A Fort Myers affiliate in ‘21 following a nine-year stint in the independent Frontier League. Last year, Double-A Wichita featured Austin Martin, Matt Wallner and Edouard Julien, a trio of prospects who could help the Twins in the near future.

That promotion coincides with a series of other promotions on the player development side, highlighted by farm director Alex Hassan’s promotion to vice president of hitting development and procurement following three seasons in his previous role. Assistant director of player development Drew MacPhail will become the Twins’ new director of player development.

Frankie Padulo, who had been working on Baldelli’s staff as run creation coordinator, will transition out of the dugout and into the front office as the new assistant director of player development. His counterpart, run prevention coordinator Colby Suggs, had been promoted to bullpen coach midway through the ‘22 season.

Senior manager of Minor League operations Brian Maloney was promoted to director of Minor League and high performance operations, while senior manager of international administration and education Amanda Daley was also promoted to director of player education.
