The Orioles have unveiled the 12th installation in the Birdland Murals Series, powered by PNC, created by artists ROWAN BATHURST and ZÉH PALITO. This marks the eighth mural located in the ballpark, displayed with a commanding view on the Upper Deck of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The twelfth mural of this series further exemplifies the Orioles and PNC Bank’s steadfast commitment to investing in Baltimore through art, culture, and meaningful community engagement.
Bathurst and Palito’s mural celebrates the beauty and history of Baltimore. Set against a backdrop of water, the piece honors the city's harbor and its connection to the Chesapeake Bay. Palito's figure depicts a player from the Baltimore Black Sox, drawn from his series of paintings honoring the Negro Leagues. Bathurst's image of a mother and daughter represents the community and togetherness that the Orioles stand for and cultivate at the ballpark. The vase included in the mural is modeled on a piece from the Maryland Historical Society, decorated with an image of a house and yard, symbolizing the larger picture of what community means.

The Birdland Murals series, powered by PNC, began in 2019 and has totaled 11 murals, eight of which were painted throughout Oriole Park, one on the west side of the Baltimore Convention Center, one in the Waverly community of Baltimore, and one in the Harlem Park neighborhood of West Baltimore. One mural, located inside Gate C at Oriole Park was redone by Kid Balloon during the 2025 season
Bathurst, a Baltimore native, is a painter working between Baltimore and São Paulo, Brazil. Her work centers on women, drawn from her own photographs of close friends and set within dreamlike landscapes inspired by art history, her travels, and prehistoric artifacts such as Venus figurines and ceramic antiquities. Her paintings convey confidence and tranquility while embracing vulnerability, inviting viewers to discover a sense of lineage and reflect on the narratives we inherit and carry forward. Bathurst earned her BFA in Painting and Art History from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2018. Her work has been exhibited and collected internationally, and she has created public art worldwide for NaLata Festival, Walls off Washington, and Vulica Festival. A 2025 Extreme Heat Resident at Johns Hopkins University, she is currently preparing her fourth solo exhibition at Gormley Gallery in Baltimore.
Palito is a Brazilian artist, storyteller, and cultural observer whose work offers insight into contemporary African diasporic life. Adorned with gold, jewels, shells, tropical fruits, and flowers, the figures in Palito's paintings are the protagonists of their own stories, positioned in stances of power that celebrate self-identity and a rich cultural heritage. Through vibrant foliage, dramatic shifts in scale, and highly saturated color, his work evokes joy while also speaking to political realities and the experiences of minority groups, proposing a wondrous, utopian vision for the future. Palito works across scales, from site-specific murals to figurative works on canvas, drawing inspiration from Brazilian, African, and American cultures. His work has been featured in "When We See Us" at Zeitz MOCAA and Kunstmuseum Basel and "The Culture" at the Baltimore Museum of Art and Saint Louis Art Museum, with solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahia, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Querétaro, Perrotin, and Simões de Assis.
