Phillies Legends Headline All-Star Sunday on July 12

All-Star Sunday Tickets Available Beginning May 27 at AllStarGame.com

Major League Baseball today announced that Phillies legends Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino will return to Citizens Bank Park on All-Star Sunday to serve as Team Captains for MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3, the new fast-paced competition debuting after the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 12th.

Howard, Rollins and Victorino will each captain a three-player team, taking to the MLBx stage to hit live and compete throughout the event. The bracket-style event will feature four teams facing off head-to-head with two semi-finals and a final, with each game lasting approximately 30 minutes. The fourth team will be captained by a former Phillies rival, with details on all participants to be announced in the coming weeks.

MLBx: All-Star 3-on-3 is a high-energy, co-ed competition that combines the excitement of power hitting with the athleticism defensive play. Each player will have one 2-minute at bat during the 3-inning game. During an at bat, one team sets up their three players in the outfield, while their opponents hit from a custom stage. Teams earn a point for each home run and a point for each catch. Bonus points are earned by hitting balls through a centerfield target placed above the outfield fence. During each at bat, batters can call for a hot streak of five swings where offensive and defensive points count double. At the end of a game, the team with the most points wins.

While this is the first time MLBx will be part of All-Star Sunday, MLB has hosted iterations of the event at Major League and Minor League ballparks, college stadiums, and in conjunction with Major League Baseball domestic and international competitions.

Tickets for All-Star Sunday, which includes the All-Star Futures Game and MLBx, will be available beginning Wednesday, May 27, at AllStarGame.com. Follow @mlbxofficial or visit MLB.com/MLBx for the latest updates.
