The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today details for the Pirates Charities Family Walk presented by Allegheny Health Network that will take place on Saturday, May 20 at PNC Park. The event will benefit Pirates Charities mental health programming and efforts, such as the newly-launched Chill Mobile initiative, in partnership with AHN, by raising funds for critical resources and helping to reduce stigmas surrounding mental health.
The unique experience will take participants on a leisurely, non-competitive stroll throughout the “best ballpark in America” where they can take in unparalleled views of the Pittsburgh skyline before finishing the approximately two-mile course on the field at home plate.
All participants will be able to interact with Pirates players, coaches, and mascots, and can stick around to enjoy a post-walk carnival. Located on PNC Park’s Highmark Riverwalk, the carnival will include family-friendly activities, music, and surprise guests.
Fans of all ages can register for the event now at pirates.com/familywalk. The first 2,000 registrants will also receive a commemorative t-shirt and a voucher for two free tickets to any Pirates home game between May 20 and June 7. Groups of four or more will receive a discount of $5 per registrant when registering together and kids in strollers are free.
Free parking will be available beginning at 6:00 a.m. on the day of the event at the following North Shore locations compliments of ALCO Parking: Red Lot 6 and Red Lot 5A. Participants will gather in the cul-de-sac adjacent to PNC Park on Mazeroski Way for the 8:30 a.m. start. The Pirates Charities Family Walk was designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind, and thus will be fully ADA accessible.
In addition to the presenting sponsor Allegheny Health Network, other Pirates Charities Family Walk sponsors include: Cellone’s, Coke, Giant Eagle, Silver Star Meats, Sugardale, Tri-State Furniture and 93.7 The Fan.
