What's happening this week: Phillies-Reds series, August 22-25

PAL Night Celebrity Home Run Derby Returns! Plus, Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum HOF Inductee Ruben Amaro Sr. and Philabundance to Be Honored on Goya Latino Family Celebration. On Monday, August 22, the Phillies kick off a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds at Citizens Bank Park. Here’s a look at the promotions and fun surrounding the games, as well as other know-before-you-go information.

1) The series starts with PEANUTSTM Night on Monday’s 7:05 p.m. game.

  • The first 3,000 fans to purchase a special theme night ticket will receive an exclusive Phillies PEANUTS TM Lucy Bobblehead. To purchase a theme night ticket, click here.
  • Also, enjoy a meet and greet with Lucy pregame behind Section 210.
  • Enjoy PEANUTS TM music, performed by The Christmas Trio, at Pass and Stow pregame.

2) The Phillies will host their 12th annual German Heritage Night at Tuesday’s 7:05 p.m. game.

  • To help honor the German community, the event features a $6 discount for seats in select locations. To learn more, click here.
  • Highlights include a German Heritage performance by the choir, Franklinville-Schwarzwald Männerchor, at the Third Base Plaza pregame.

3) Before Wednesday’s 7:05 p.m. game, stop by The Yard in right field for the PAL Night Celebrity Home Run Derby, which takes place until 6:00 p.m.

  1. Local television, radio and TV celebrities will be taking part, as well as 1993 National League Champion Mickey Morandini. The event will conclude with a check presentation to support efforts of the Philadelphia Police Athletic League.
  2. In addition, Officer Bill Schneider of the Tacony PAL Center will be honored as that night’s Rothman Hometown Hero and change the base at the end of the sixth inning. Plus, PAL kids and officers will dance with the Phillie Phanatic at the end of the seventh inning.
  3. A portion of the gross proceeds of that night’s Phillies Charities, Inc. 50/50 drawing, presented by DraftKings, will benefit PAL.

4) Join the Phillies for the 20th annual Goya Latino Family Celebration at Thursday’s 7:05 p.m. game. Highlights include the on-field recognition of Philabundance and baseball great Ruben Amaro Sr.

  • To help honor the Latino community, the event features a $6 discount on seats in select locations. To learn more, click here.
  • Enjoy performances by the Celestino Sanchez Group behind Section 148 and by Jimmy George and the Latin Express at Pass and Stow pregame.
  • Philabundance, one of the largest hunger relief organizations in the Delaware Valley, will be recognized on-field with the Phillies Goya Family Service Award for their efforts in feeding families in need. In celebration, Goya Foods has donated 10,000 pounds of food to Philabundance so their work in the community can continue.
  • Also, on-field, the late Ruben Amaro Sr., a former Phillies player, coach, and scout, will be formally recognized for becoming the 79th inductee into the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame pregame. Amaro Sr. played for the Phillies from 1960-65, winning a Gold Glove in 1964. He was one of the coaches for the World Championship club in 1980. As a scout, he was also instrumental in the signings of Juan Samuel, Julio Franco and George Bell. Amaro Sr.’s son, Phillies broadcaster and former General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr., will accept the award on his father’s behalf.
  • Phillies Spanish Broadcaster, Oscar Budejen, will announce the Phillies lineups in Spanish.
  • Also, Goya Foods is offering a food sampling experience for fans inside the left field gate.

5) Bid on My Favorite Things Online Auction presented by the Phillies Wives!

  • The Phillies Wives have put together 19 personalized gift baskets, featuring the favorite items of Phillies players! Each basket includes signed memorabilia and the favorite items of Phillies stars Bryce Harper, Bryson Stott, Nick Castellanos, J.T. Realmuto and more. Bid online here until noon on Monday, August 29.
  • The auction proceeds benefit Potter’s House Mission, which provides transitional housing for homeless women with children and social services to the community at large in West and Southwest Philadelphia.

Other need-to-know information:

  • Broadcast: All games will be broadcast on NBCSP and available via live stream for authenticated subscribers on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s MyTeams app. All games will broadcast on 94 WIP and WTTM 1680.
  • To Expedite Entry: Guests are prohibited from bringing bags, including backpacks, into the ballpark. Only clutch purses (12”x 12” x 1”), fanny packs, medical bags, clear or solid tote bags and diaper bags will be permitted into Citizens Bank Park.
  • Access Tickets & More: Use the free MLB Ballpark app as your guide to Citizens Bank Park to access tickets, forward to friends, use the interactive concourse maps and enjoy games.
  • Parking Lots: Parking for Phillies games is cashless. Methods of payment include credit/debit cards and mobile payment (Apple Pay and Google Pay). To expedite entry, pre-paid parking passes may also be purchased prior to the game. Tailgating lots (M, N & O) will open 5 hours prior to first pitch and non-tailgating lots will open 3 hours prior.
  • Gate Openings: All gates open 90 minutes before game time.

  • Safety Guidelines: In accordance with the City’s safety guidelines, fans are strongly encouraged to wear masks in indoor spaces at the ballpark including the Diamond Club, retail stores, elevators and restrooms. Fans are reminded to bring their own mask if they will be at one of the previously mentioned areas at Citizens Bank Park.
