Rangers trim 37 from Minor League ranks
ARLINGTON -- The Rangers announced Monday they had released 37 Minor Leaguers, including pitchers Austin Bibens-Dirkx, Nick Gardewine, Brandon Mann and Arturo Reyes.
Of the four, only Reyes was in big league camp during Spring Training, though all have big league experience with the Rangers.
Other pitchers released include right-handers Shane Carle, Alex Carrillo, Juan Castillo, Alex Eubanks, Cal Hehnke, Sam Hellinger, George Janca, Taylor Jungmann, Billy Layne Jr., Jeifry Nunez, Luis Rosario and Scott Williams, and left-handers Brandon Baker, Justin Lewis, Brandon Mann, Zach Penrod and Francisco Villegas.
Also released was outfielder Eric Jenkins, the Rangers' second-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, and outfielders Luis Asuncion, William Jeffry, Starling Joseph, Franklin Rollin, Chad Smith and Hasuan Viera.
Texas also released four catchers: Alex Kowalczyk, Kevin Mendoza, Isaias Quiroz and Josue Rodriguez, and four infielders: Andretty Cordero, Yaniery Guzman, Tyler Depreta-Johnson and Stanley Martinez.
