MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins are getting closer to having a key member of their rotation back.
Right-hander Bailey Ober, who has been out for almost a month, will make a Minor League rehabilitation appearance for High-A Cedar Rapids on Sunday. Ober was placed on the injured list on May 31 with right elbow inflammation.
The game is set for 1:10 p.m. CT on the road against Wisconsin and can be viewed on MiLB.TV.
Ober threw an extended bullpen session on Tuesday and then a shorter one Friday, putting him on track to make a start Sunday. It’s likely he’ll need more than one rehab start before returning to action, but getting the steady veteran back will be a huge boon when it happens.
Rookie Mike Paredes has handled himself well in Ober’s absence, and pitched a career-high 5 1/3 innings in Saturday’s 8-5 loss to the Rockies.
