Twins claim outfielder Reed off waivers

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins claimed outfielder off waivers from the Braves on Wednesday, bringing their 40-man roster total to 38.
Reed, 25, has played parts of three seasons in the Majors with the Brewers and Braves. He hit .214/.267/.250 in 15 games with Milwaukee from 2015-16 and batted .286 in seven games with Atlanta in '18.
Reed has posted strong on-base numbers in the Minors with a career .269/.382/.395 slash line in 707 games and hit a combined .342/.453/.520 with 11 homers, 26 doubles and 10 stolen bases in 97 games between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett this past season. Reed has experience at all three outfield positions and mostly played center field in '18.
Reed adds to a long list of Twins outfielders on the 40-man roster, joining , , Max Kepler, Jake Cave, Robbie Grossman, and . Grossman is eligible for arbitration, while Field and Granite are candidates to be removed from the 40-man roster this offseason.
Reed was born locally in Maplewood, Minn., but attended Leander High School in Leander, Texas. He was drafted by the Brewers in the fifth round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He's not eligible for arbitration until '21 and is under team control through '23.
