Iconic fan item returns to its original fabric for the Twins’ 2023 Postseason; Homer Hankies can be purchased immediately at Target Field or StarTribune.com

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The excitement and passion of Postseason baseball is back at Target Field, and the 2023 American League Central Division Champion Minnesota Twins are proud to again partner with the Star Tribune and CUB to help fans celebrate by introducing this year’s version of the iconic Homer Hanky™.

The 2023 Homer Hanky, which returns to the original hanky fabric and invites Twins fans to share in the club’s rallying cry of “We Believe”, is available for purchase immediately at a price of $4 at the Twins New Era Team Store at Target Field, or online via StarTribune.com/homerhanky. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will benefit the Minnesota Twins Community Fund. Additionally, the 2023 Homer Hanky will be given to each fan as they enter Target Field for every Twins home game throughout the Postseason.

“As fans across Twins Territory join us in celebrating our division championship and a return to Postseason baseball, we are beyond thrilled to bring back the beloved Homer Hanky – in its original fabric,” said Twins President & CEO Dave St. Peter. “From Game 1 of the 1987 ALCS through today – in the best and worst of times – Homer Hankies have been proudly waved by generations of Twins fans. We believe in this collective spirit of togetherness, we believe in the possibility of fall magic – and we believe in this team. We cannot wait to see the 2023 Homer Hanky waved throughout Target Field this October!”

Featuring the nostalgic feel of the original Homer Hanky, the 2023 edition includes the words “We Believe” – a phrase exclaimed by Twins rightfielder Max Kepler following a walk-off win in July, and one that quickly became a clubhouse mantra for a Minnesota team that has posted the American League’s third-best record (and 6th best in baseball) since June 30. With white towels no longer allowed by Major League Baseball rules, the 2023 Homer Hanky is produced in the Twins’ dynamic shade of red, a vibrant color showcased throughout the club’s new home white and navy alternate uniforms.

“Homer Hankies have a rich history in the Twin Cities sports scene and hold a special place in the hearts of Minnesotans,” said Star Tribune Publisher & CEO Steve Grove. “That’s why, in partnership with the Twins and CUB, we’re thrilled to revitalize this beloved Minnesota sports tradition. We believe Homer Hankies will be waving proudly inside Target Field and across Twins Territory deep into the fall.”

“The Minnesota Twins and CUB have dedicated themselves to being the hometown team and grocer, and we are again thrilled to be bringing the Homer Hanky to all of Minnesota,” said CUB CEO Brian Audette. “It gives us great pride to partner with the Twins and the Star Tribune to bring this great symbol of playoff baseball to Twins fans.”

The Homer Hanky, originally a brainchild of Terrie Robbins and the Star Tribune marketing team, made its debut for Game 1 of the 1987 American League Championship Series at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome and became a fixture of the Twins’ World Series championship run that October. The fabled symbol of Twins Postseason baseball returned for the team’s 1991 World Series title and has been on hand for every Twins home playoff game since (2002-04; 2006; 2009-10; 2019-20).

2023 Twins Postseason Tickets

Fans can purchase limited-availability, single-game tickets for a potential 2023 American League Wild Card Series at Target Field from October 3-5, available now exclusively at twins.com/postseason.

The American League Central Division Champion Twins are currently the AL’s No. 3 seed for the 2023 playoffs; should they remain in that position, Minnesota will open the Postseason by hosting the entire best-of-three Wild Card Series at Target Field. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 3; Game 2 is set for Wednesday, October 4; and Game 3, if necessary, would be played Thursday, October 5. Game times will be announced by Major League Baseball at a later date.

If the Twins were to secure the AL’s second seed, the club would advance directly to the American League Division Series and host up to three games.

Fans can secure 2023 Postseason ticket priority through their commitment to the 2024 season, either by purchasing a Playoff Push Plan or securing their seats for next season. The Playoff Push Plan includes 10 vouchers for use during the Twins’ final regular season homestand September 22-28 along with a Flex 20 Plan for the 2024 season, available now at twins.com/playoffpushplan.
