Assistant General Manager
Sean Johnson, who begins his 25th season with the Twins in 2026, was promoted to Assistant General Manager in January 2025.
Johnson's primary focus is leading the club’s amateur scouting group and overseeing preparation for the First-Year Player Draft. In this role, he guides the development of the club’s amateur scouting philosophies and staff, ensuring a strong pipeline of future talent.
Prior to his current role, Johnson was Vice President, Amateur Scouting for two seasons (2023-24) and served as Director of Amateur Scouting since 2017. Johnson originally joined the Twins in 2002 as an area scout for Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. He was promoted to West Coast Supervisor in 2007, overseeing that area’s amateur scouts for the First-Year Player Draft.
Johnson was a catcher at Wichita State University from 1996-98 and received his B.A. in exercise science and sport administration in 1999. Following his playing career, he stayed at his alma mater as Director of Baseball Operations from 2000-01. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Twins Community Fund.
