Cubs activate catcher Bobby Wilson

The Chicago Cubs today activated catcher Bobby Wilson off of the 10-day disabled list. Wilson will be available for the Cubs this afternoon when they begin their three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Wilson, 35, was acquired from Minnesota on August 30 for catcher Chris Gimenez and a player to be named or a cash consideration. Wilson has spent all or part of nine major league campaigns with six clubs, seeing action with the Los Angeles Angels (2008-12), Arizona Diamondbacks (2014), the Tampa Bay Rays (2015, 2016), Texas Rangers (2015, 2016), Detroit Tigers (2016) and Twins (2018). He is a career .208 hitter (185-for-888) with 39 doubles, 18 homers and 100 RBI in 371 major league contests.

The right-handed batter was placed on the disabled list by Minnesota on August 24 with a sprained right ankle. He hit .178 (24-for-135) with two homers and 16 RBI in 47 games with the Twins this season.

Chicago's active roster now stands at 37 players.
