LOS ANGELES -- The Rockies completed a four-game sweep at Dodger Stadium for the first time since their inaugural season in 1993, beating the Dodgers, 8-1, on Sunday behind Mark Reynolds' grand slam and Nolan Arenado's homer and two RBIs.
"It was a good atmosphere the whole series," Reynolds said. "It was the kind of baseball that gets your juices flowing. It makes it fun. We were able to, for the most part, silence the crowd all series, and come away with four big wins."

The Dodgers have lost 15 of their last 16 games and 10 straight, their longest losing streak in 25 years. They also have been swept in consecutive series for the first time since Aug. 18-23, 2015. Los Angeles' National League West lead has shrunk to nine games over Arizona and it leads Washington by four games for the NL's best record.
"We have a frustrated clubhouse," manager Dave Roberts said. "A very frustrated, upset clubhouse, but there's really no explanation. We have to find a way to win a game." 
The Rockies maintained their three-game lead for the second NL Wild Card spot over the Cardinals and Brewers, and they open a four-game series with the Wild Card-leading D-backs on Monday. Colorado trails Arizona by five games.

Arenado went 2-for-4 with a RBI single in the first and a homer in the third, both off Dodgers lefty Rich Hill (9-8). In a planned bullpen game for the Rockies, Tyler Chatwood (7-12) worked five innings on 75 pitches and struck out five. Reynolds' grand slam came in a five-run eighth off Dodgers top prospectWalker Buehler.

"This is a team that has over 90 wins," Rockies manager Bud Black said of the Dodgers. "They're a good team. To come in here, our guys should be very proud of that -- how they played and handled this at this time of year."
The Dodgers, who avoided a shutout when No. 2 prospect Alex Verdugo hit his first big league homer to lead off the ninth, finished their seven-game homestand winless and have lost nine straight games at home for the first time since Aug. 13-Sept. 5, 1987.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Jumping ahead: The key for the Rockies throughout this sweep was quick starts. Colorado didn't let up on Sunday. After Charlie Blackmon was walked to lead off the game, DJ LeMahieu singled and Arenado drove in Blackmon with a single. The Rockies had a 1-0 lead with the bases loaded and no outs, but Hill managed to escape the inning without further damage.
"[The production] came from so many guys," Black said. "They should feel good about what they were able to do." 

That's a wrap: Heading into the top of eighth, the Rockies held a slim 2-0 lead. The Dodgers called on the highly touted Buehler to start the inning, and the hard-throwing righty loaded bases on a single and two walks before Reynolds took care of the rest, belting a fastball from Buehler to left field for a grand slam.
"With Reynolds, the fastball was center cut," Roberts said. "[Against] guys up here, if the location isn't commanded, there's damage to be had. But I like the way Walker was attacking guys. It's a good experience for him. He's got great stuff and an understanding of Major League hitters and how to get them out."

"I'm happy for these guys. I'm happy for the organization, the fans and everybody for getting to experience this. A lot of the guys in that room haven't been through it. This is great for them. The Dodgers are the first team in history to win 15 of 16 games and lose 15 of 16 games in the same season, according to Elias.
Carlos Gonzalez passed Vinny Castillo for the third-most games played with the Rockies in franchise history (1,099). Gonzalez trails only Larry Walker (1,170) and Todd Helton (2,247).
WHAT'S NEXT
Rockies: The Rockies will send left-hander Kyle Freeland to the mound to open a four-game set at Arizona on Monday at 7:40 p.m. MT. Anderson has a 5.40 ERA over his last five starts but has gone 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts against the D-backs this season.
Dodgers: The Dodgers head to San Francisco for a three-game series with their division-rival. Kenta Maeda will take the ball in the series opener, with first pitch slated for 7:15 p.m. PT.
