CLEVELAND -- Don’t be surprised if this year's Ohio Cup highlight reel eventually includes Guardians TV play-by-play man Matt Underwood.

Underwood inserted his name into the hat for Play of the Game on Saturday, during the Guardians-Reds matchup at Progressive Field. Underwood snagged a foul ball off the bat of Cincinnati’s Dane Myers during his seventh-inning at-bat against Colin Holderman.

Underwood (who’s in his 27th season calling games for Cleveland) showed excellent balance and reach as he rose out of his seat and extended both hands to snag Myers’ foul ball.

The catch delighted Underwood’s partner, color commentator Rick Manning -- a longtime big league outfielder who earned a Gold Glove Award in 1976. Manning gave his partner a round of applause in the booth to celebrate the catch.

Just as good for the Guardians: Holderman struck out Myers swinging to cap off his 1 2/3-inning scoreless appearance. Erik Sabrowski entered in relief and struck out Elly De La Cruz looking to end the top of the seventh.

The Guardians went on to win, 7-4, after Angel Martínez hit a decisive go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.
