The Marlins acquired left-hander Kade Bragg from the Twins for first baseman Eric Wagaman on Friday afternoon.
Bragg compiled a 2.94 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP with five saves in 67 1/3 innings across three Minor League levels in 2025. He finished his season at Double-A Wichita, where he posted a 3.22 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP and 8.46 K/9 and 3.63 BB/9 rates with three saves in 15 outings.
The 24-year-old Bragg, who was selected by the Twins in the 17th round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Angelo State University, did not rank among Minnesota’s Top 30 prospects per MLB Pipeline and was not on the 40-man roster.
TRADE DETAILS
Marlins get: LHP Kade Bragg
Twins get: 1B Eric Wagaman
Adding Bragg helps Miami, which lacks southpaw relief options both on the 40-man roster and in the upper levels of the Minors. Cade Gibson (168 ERA+ in 44 appearances, including one start, as a rookie in 2025), Josh Simpson (61 ERA+ in 31 games as a rookie) and Andrew Nardi, who hasn’t pitched since August 2024, are the lefty relievers on the 40-man roster. Unranked prospect Dale Stanavich is the only southpaw in Triple-A Jacksonville’s bullpen, while Justin King and Jack Sellinger feature in Double-A Pensacola’s.
The Marlins had designated Wagaman for assignment earlier in the week to clear a 40-man roster spot for the acquisition of outfielder Esteury Ruiz from the Dodgers.
