ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Mets on Tuesday named Andy Green their full-time manager, removing his interim tag and signing him to a three-year contract. Tune in here or to the video above for a live stream as Green and the Mets discuss the deal.
“Andy has connected with and pushed our players to perform, despite the disappointment of the season,” Mets owners Steve and Alex Cohen said in a statement. “Over the last several months he has brought discipline, accountability and positivity to the clubhouse, attributes we were seeking in our next manager."
Green, 49, led the Mets to a 37-38 record as interim manager, after taking over from Carlos Mendoza in late June. The Mets are 31-28 since the All-Star break, entering Tuesday night's game against the Rangers.
“When I accepted the interim role, I didn’t anticipate it becoming permanent, but the more time I spent with our players and staff, the clearer it became that this is where my passion and experience could make the greatest impact," Green said in a statement.
