It has only been six games since Arjun Nimmala received a promotion to Double-A, but he has certainly made the most of that time.
The shortstop posted a three-hit night Tuesday, already his third multi-hit performance since his May 5 promotion. Nimmala also scored a run to help New Hampshire topple Reading, 9-5, at Delta Dental Stadium.
The Blue Jays’ No. 3 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 60 overall got his day started quickly, dumping a soft liner to the opposite field for a first-inning single. He then came around to score on a Jay Harry homer.
In the fifth, Nimmala shot a ground ball through the right side of the infield, stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch, but he was stranded there. Nimmala went oppo one last time for his third and final hit of the evening, roping a double over the head of the right fielder.
COMPLETE BLUE JAYS PROSPECT COVERAGE
Still just 20 years old, the 2023 first-round pick now has gone 11-for-26 (.423 average) with a pair of doubles in six games of Double-A action. He’s still searching for his first home run at the level, but with his 60-grade power, it shouldn’t take much longer. Nimmala had four long balls in 23 games at High-A to begin 2026.
