PITTSBURGH -- Mets rookie Carson Benge exited with left wrist soreness in the bottom of the fourth inning of New York's 6-4 victory over the Pirates on Friday night at PNC Park.
Benge had crashed into the wall in the left-field corner making an outstanding catch on a fly ball hit by Ronny Simon an inning earlier.
X-rays were encouraging, though Mets interim manager Andy Green said Benge could undergo further imaging if the wrist is still sore on Saturday morning.
Cristian Pache replaced Benge with the Mets leading, 6-0. Benge was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a stolen base before his exit.
In 112 games this season, the 23-year-old Benge is hitting .270 with 13 home runs and 18 stolen bases.
