PITTSBURGH -- Mets rookie outfielder Carson Benge was back in the lineup on Sunday afternoon against the Pirates after he missed Saturday night's game with a jammed left wrist he sustained on Friday.
X-rays and imaging on Benge's wrist were negative.
“Nothing too serious, thankfully,” Benge said on Saturday. "I’m still feeling [it] a little, but it’s feeling better than it did [Friday].”
Benge exited with soreness in the wrist in the bottom of the fourth inning of New York's 6-4 victory over the Pirates on Friday night. Benge crashed into the wall in the left-field corner making an outstanding catch on a fly ball hit by Ronny Simon an inning earlier.
Benge is hitting .270 with 13 home runs, 46 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in 112 games. He has reached base safely in 12 straight games, hitting .356 with two doubles, one triple, six RBIs, three walks and two steals over that stretch.
The Mets made roster moves on Saturday and Sunday, first optioning infielder Eric Wagaman to Triple-A Syracuse. That opened a spot for infielder Gabriel Arias, who was claimed off waivers from the Guardians on Friday.
On Sunday, the club selected righty Jack Weisenburger's contract from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned Xzavion Curry.
