Padres @ Mets

2-3, 4.97 ERA, 84 SO
Snell is looking to build on his best start with San Diego -- seven innings of one-hit ball against the Mets last Friday. It's been an up-and-down season for Snell, but this much is clear: When he's in the strike zone, his electric stuff does the rest.
RHP
6-2, 0.56 ERA, 103 SO
The Mets are bumping deGrom up a day in the rotation to keep him on a regular rest schedule with two team off-days this week. His 0.62 ERA is the lowest by a pitcher in his first nine starts since earned runs became an official stat in both leagues.

Padres @ Mets

RHP
4-6, 2.50 ERA, 96 SO
Musgrove has more or less maintained his excellent strikeout rate from last season in Pittsburgh, while cutting his walk rate in half. The results have been about as good as you'd expect: Musgrove is making a serious push for his first All-Star Game.
RHP
6-4, 2.32 ERA, 67 SO
Stroman has been the most consistent member of New York's rotation, going between six and seven innings in each of his last six starts and allowing three or fewer runs in five of them. He owns a 2.68 ERA over that stretch.

3-5, 4.14 ERA, 57 SO
Paddack has completed six innings in three of his last four starts, and he has turned his season around after a rough start. He has also begun to regularly use his curve, to go along with his fastball and changeup, making him a legit three-pitch pitcher.
LHP
1-4, 5.18 ERA, 36 SO
Although the overall numbers remain ugly, Lucchesi owns a 1.46 ERA over his past three starts. He threw a season-high 4 2/3 innings last time out, but the Mets are still hesitant to let him see opposing lineups three times through.

5-7, 5.14 ERA, 51 SO
Arrieta had a strong bounceback start on Wednesday, holding the Padres to one run over five innings. He struck out six and walked one. The veteran had an 8.28 ERA in his previous six turns. Arrieta is 3-3 with a 6.40 ERA in seven road starts this year.
LHP
2-5, 5.60 ERA, 56 SO
The Mets are committed to keeping Peterson in the rotation despite a 9.88 ERA over his last four starts. Although the Mets don't have a wealth of alternative options, Peterson will need to turn things around quickly if he wants to stick.

2-1, 6.11 ERA, 21 SO
Mills recently returned from an IL stint due to a back issue. The righty has spent the bulk of this year in the bullpen, with his lone start (four innings, two runs) falling on April 13 against Milwaukee. He was 5-5 with a 4.48 ERA as a starter in 2020.
RHP
6-2, 2.35 ERA, 78 SO
Walker has had periodic control problems, but really that's just quibbling. Overall, he's been one of the best starting pitchers in the National League and one of last offseason's best free-agent signings, with a 1.32 ERA in his last six starts.
