
The Washington Nationals return to Nationals Park for a nine-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates (July 3-5). Tickets for Nationals home games can be purchased at Nationals.com/Tickets or at the box office.
The Fourth of July weekend features special guest appearances from the Artemis II crew and Washington Wizards first-overall NBA Draft pick AJ Dybantsa, Freedom Fireworks presented by Budweiser, and a Nationals Patriotic T-shirt giveaway.
HEAT PRECAUTIONS FOR FANS
Due to this weekend’s extreme heat advisory, Nationals Park will provide the following for all ballpark guests:
- Ballpark guests are permitted to bring two empty or factory-sealed, unfrozen plastic water bottles up to one liter in size each.
- Water bottle refilling stations are located at the following locations:

- Kick off the Fourth of July Weekend and America’s 250th birthday with Freedom Fireworks presented by Budweiser following the conclusion of the game.
- Fireworks will begin approximately 10 minutes after the final out.

SATURDAY, JULY 4 vs. PITTSBURGH PIRATES (11:05 A.M.)
- Patriotic Series presented by Leidos: Independence Day
- As the nation celebrates America’s 250th birthday, the Nationals will commemorate U.S. military service members, first responders and the United States’ semiquincentennial on Independence Day, the second installment of the Patriotic Series presented by Leidos.
- The Nationals will honor service members and their families with on-field programming, a pregame ceremony and patriotic uniforms.
- Before the start of the game, 150 volunteers from Leidos will unfurl a giant U.S. flag on the field.
- Nationals players will wear white jerseys with stars and stripes-themed numbers, as well as red, white and blue New Era caps and Stance socks to visually represent and pay tribute to the nation’s founding. An exclusive USA 250® patch developed by Fanatics in conjunction with the major U.S. sports leagues will also be featured on the sleeves of the jerseys and sides of the caps throughout those Independence Day games.
- Artemis II Crew Ceremonial First Pitches
- The four astronauts of the Artemis II crew who completed NASA’s first crewed lunar flyby in more than 50 years – Reid Wiseman, Artemis II Commander; Victor Glover, Artemis II Pilot; Christina Koch, Artemis II Mission Specialist; and Jeremy Hansen, Canadian Space Agency (CSA) Mission Specialist – will join the pregame ceremonies and throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch.
- The Artemis II crew launched aboard NASA’s space launch system in the Orion spacecraft named Integrity on April 1, embarking on the first journey beyond the Earth’s orbit in more than half a century. The four explorers returned to Earth on April 11, safely splashing down in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, concluding a 10-day mission to the moon. Together, the crew and Integrity traveled more than 680,000 miles in total, journeying around the far side of the moon and completing critical demonstrations.
- America Waves U.S. Flag Distribution presented by America 250
- 30,000 fans will receive a handheld U.S. flag beginning when gates open at 9:45 a.m.
- Fans will be able to wave their flags at the end of the fifth inning as one in a coordinated flag wave moment.
- Flag Sojourn 250 Patriotic Pilgrimage
- More than 170 American Legion Riders will make the 250-mile, six-hour journey to Nationals Park to deliver a U.S. flag that has traveled to every U.S. state and territory, as well as every U.S. military cemetery overseas.
- During the sixth inning, the American Legion Riders will present the American flag to the crowd before making stops at the U.S. Supreme Court, White House and U.S. Capitol building.
