ARLINGTON -- The Rangers' pitching development has turned around majorly in recent seasons, and nowhere is it more on display in the offseason than in the Arizona Fall League.
Three Rangers right-handed pitching prospects were selected to the American League roster for Sunday's Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game in Mesa, Ariz.: Jose Corniell, Winston Santos and Emiliano Teodo. Due to pitching schedules, the trio did not participate in Sunday's exhibition game, but all have performed admirably in the AFL.
More on the Arizona Fall League:
Let’s take a look at how they’re faring halfway through the circuit (stats through Friday):
Corniell (Rangers’ No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline)
The 22-year-old Corniell made his MLB debut on the final day of the regular season, allowing four runs (three earned) in 1 2/3 innings against the Guardians. He allowed a walk-off homer to Brayan Rocchio, which allowed Cleveland to clinch the AL Central, but he still perhaps has the highest ceiling of the Rangers’ pitching prospects.
After missing most of the past two seasons due to Tommy John rehab, Corniell posted a 1.89 ERA across 13 Minor League starts in 2025.
In the AFL this year, Corniell has collected 17 strikeouts in 15 innings across four starts for the Surprise Sugaros, though he’s allowed 10 earned runs in that time (6.60 ERA).
Santos (No. 4)
Santos only threw 17 1/3 innings in 2025 after a breakout ‘24 season due to a stress reaction in his back.
The Rangers sent him to the Fall League with the intent to continue building up innings going into 2026. Santos has made four pitching appearances (one start) in AFL play, collecting 15 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings. He’s allowed nine earned runs in that time.
The 23-year-old right-hander is one of the best in the Rangers’ system when healthy. He owns a career 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings across 86 career Minor League games (78 starts) from 2021-25.
Teodo (No. 14)
Like Santos, Teodo struggled with injuries through much of 2025, and when he was healthy, he didn’t quite look like the flamethrower he’s become.
Teodo owns a 2.25 ERA with a pair of saves in four relief appearances with Surprise this fall, tied for the most saves in the AFL. Just two years ago, he was named the AFL Reliever of the Year, though he’s been used as both a starter and reliever during his time in the Minors. If he’s able to stay healthy, he could make his MLB debut sooner rather than later.
Teodo has a career 3.52 ERA over 106 Minor League games (50 starts) since 2021.
