Trout, Judge among NINE players to hit multiple homers ... on the same day!

5:45 AM UTC

Multihomer games were a common theme on Monday.

A whopping NINE players hit multiple home runs in Monday’s slate of games, tied for the second-most players with multihomer games on the same day in MLB history.

Only the 10 multihomer games on September, 10, 2019, had more such players leave the yard on multiple occasions. Monday marked the sixth day with at least nine players hitting multiple home runs on the same day, with the most recent occurrence coming on July 14, 2024.

Here’s a quick rundown of the nine players who each hit two home runs on Monday.

, Yankees

Judge crushed a first-inning home run that traveled a Statcast-projected 456 feet and left his bat at 116.2 mph, the hardest-hit homer by any player this season. The Yankees’ captain wasn’t done, as Judge hit his second homer in the sixth inning, a go-ahead solo shot that left his bat at 111.4 mph. His multihomer effort helped the Yanks win an 11-10 thriller over the Angels.

, Angels

It was a vintage Trout performance, as the Angels’ star hit a game-tying three-run homer in the sixth inning that traveled 421 feet. Two innings later, Trout hit a 445-foot two-run home run to put the Angels ahead 10-8. Trout nearly had another home run earlier in the game, a 393-foot flyout with the bases loaded to the warning track in the fourth inning. Trout and Judge’s performances marked the fourth game in which two multi-time MVPs (at the time of the game) hit multiple home runs each.

, Yankees

It was a whale of a game for Grisham, who didn’t even enter the game until the fifth inning as a pinch-hitter. Grisham hit a pinch-hit go-ahead three-run homer in his first plate appearance and a game-tying two-run home run in the ninth inning. He became the first Yankee since Raúl Ibañez in Game 3 of the 2012 ALDS to hit multiple home runs after entering as a reserve.

, Phillies

Schwarber hit home runs No. 5 and 6, both of which came in his first two plate appearances against the Cubs’ Javier Assad. It was Schwarber’s seventh multi-homer game since the beginning of last season, including his two-homer performance in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.

, D-backs

Marte crushed the first pitch of the game at a Statcast-projected 443 feet onto Eutaw Street at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Marte homered again in his second plate appearance and his 405-foot homer apparently fell a few feet shy of making him the second player in ballpark history to reach Eutaw Street twice in one game.

, D-backs

Marte and Arenado both clubbing multiple home runs somehow wasn’t enough in a whacky 9-7 Orioles win. It was Arenado’s first multihomer game since July 7, 2023.

Jackson’s multihomer effort, including a sixth-inning grand slam, was a key catalyst in Baltimore erasing a six-run deficit in an epic comeback win. It also represented the first multi-homer game in Jackson’s career.

, Mariners

Naylor homered in each of his first two plate appearances to help lift the Mariners to a four-game sweep over the division-rival Astros. Those also represented Naylor’s first two home runs of the season.

, Rangers

Burger also homered in each of his first two plate appearances, making him the fourth player of the day to do that. His eighth career multihomer game helped the Rangers win 8-1 in their series opener against the A’s.
