Rangers acquire pitcher Espino from Brewers

OAKLAND -- The Rangers acquired right-handed pitcher from the Brewers for cash considerations on Saturday and designated pitcher for assignment.
Espino, 30, pitched in six games for the Brewers this year, including two starts. In 17 2/3 innings, he allowed 17 hits and eight walks while striking out 13. He registered a 6.11 ERA and allowed five home runs.
Espino was 4-2 with a 4.52 ERA in 14 starts and two relief appearances at Triple-A Colorado Springs. He has been assigned to Triple-A Round Rock.
Scheppers' best season with the Rangers was in 2013 when he went 6-2 with a 1.88 ERA in 76 games as a setup reliever. He was switched to the rotation in 2014 but was never the same pitcher after a series of injuries. He was 0-3 with a 5.05 ERA in 30 games at Triple-A Round Rock and had a 6.75 ERA in five appearances with the Rangers this season.
