ARLINGTON -- Rangers designated hitter Shin-Soo Choo launched a home run off right-hander Gerrit Cole in the third inning of Wednesday's extra-inning, 5-4 loss to the Astros to extend his Major League-high on-base streak to 44 games.
Choo is now tied with Otis Nixon for the second-longest on-base streak in club history. Nixon had a streak of 44 games in 1995. Julio Franco holds the club record of 46 games in 1993.
"He's just an on-base machine," said Rangers center fielder Delino DeShields. "That's what he does."

Choo finished 2-for-4 with a sacrifice on the night, and his home run was his 16th of the season. Those are the most homers he has hit prior to the All-Star break in his career.
The veteran outfielder also has hits in 14 of his last 15 games and holds a .472 on-base percentage during that span. Choo, who has never been an All-Star in his 14-year career, is a strong candidate this year despite not being among the top five vote-getters at his position.
