August 31st, 2023

Arlington, Texas— The Texas Rangers and Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, in collaboration with first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, American Airlines, and Stand Up To Cancer ® (SU2C), will spotlight cancer awareness at the Rangers-Twins 6:15 p.m. game on Saturday, September 2.

During pre-game ceremonies, around 150 children’s cancer patients, survivors, and their caregivers will form a “gold ribbon” in the outfield, a symbol that represents those battling childhood cancer. Organizations represented during the pre-game ceremony will include American Airlines, Hope Kids, Leukemia Texas, Make-A-Wish North Texas, Medical City Children’s, and Wipe Out Kids Cancer.

At the conclusion of the third inning, fans and players alike will pause to support those currently battling cancer, survivors, and those we have lost while holding placards with messages of support and acknowledgment.

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation will also donate all proceeds from Saturday’s Texas 2 Split 50/50 Raffle, presented by Kroger, to Stand Up To Cancer, a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that brings new therapies to patients quickly.

Guests entering the Globe Life Field gates on Saturday beginning at 4:15 p.m. will receive Stand Up To Cancer placards to hold during the pause in play. Additional customizable placards will be at tables throughout all concourses, and a large vinyl signing wall will be available for fans to sign behind section 110.

Since its inception, SU2C research has contributed to the development of nine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approvals for new cancer therapies. Major League Baseball and its 30 Clubs have donated more than $50 million to SU2C since the collaboration began in 2008.

Additionally, as part of Major League Baseball’s Childhood Cancer Awareness campaign, recognized league-wide on Sunday, September 3, all on-field personnel, including Rangers players, managers, and coaches, will wear gold ribbon decals and wristbands during the 1:35 p.m. series finale against Minnesota.
