Target Field to undergo center-field enhancement
Multi-level fan space to be finished by start of 2016 season
MINNEAPOLIS -- Despite theirs being one of the newer parks in baseball, the Twins have been committed to continually updating Target Field since it opened in 2010. They're now set to undergo the biggest renovation to date with a new multi-level section in center field that will be ready for the 2016 season, the club announced Monday.
Replacing an underutilized section above the batter's eye in center field will be a multi-level fan space, with the upper level called Minnie & Paul's and the lower level called CATCH.
The upper or club level is open to all fans, and it will include a pub under the Minnie and Paul sign in center field. There will also be Minnesota-themed food options, which will be announced at the 2016 Target Field Food and Beverage Preview in February. The lower or mezzanine level is an all-inclusive club that has space for roughly 120 season-ticket holders. It includes beverages and tapas-style food options that change on a daily basis as part of the ticket price. Season ticket per-game prices will range from $75 to $85 within CATCH.
"The Twins are committed to continually improving Target Field, with a focus on delivering the best fan experience in professional sports," Twins president Dave St. Peter said. "We're excited to unveil these unique spaces to our fans with a belief that they make the ballpark better."
The new area in center field will include a 3,700-square-foot expansion, 3,200 square feet of which will be in the shade. There will also be two canopies, with the larger one at 2,240 square feet.
The CATCH level is named after Kirby Puckett's unforgettable catch in Game 6 of the 1991 World Series. It's only available as part of a season-ticket purchase, and a random selection process will take place to determine which fans will have an opportunity to purchase tickets within CATCH. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets must register at www.twinsbaseball.com/premiumCATCH by Nov. 18.
The Minnie & Paul's section will be 1,300 square feet and open to all fans. The section will include drink rails, high top tables and covered concession areas featuring local vendors.
The renovations are designed by Populous with Minnesota-based Mortenson Construction overseeing the construction of the new area.
"We're thrilled to introduce this new and exclusive venue within the ballpark," said Mike Clough, vice president of ticket sales and service for the Twins. "We are confident our season ticket holders will enjoy the intimate atmosphere and abundant amenities. Members of CATCH will enjoy its all-inclusive menu and great views of the game while enjoying the high-end club experience in this vibrant environment."
