Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are being joined by Earth’s mightiest ballplayers in an exclusive look at Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” for the World Series. In the film, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
The new promo featuring Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena, Brewers starting pitcher (and Game 1 starter) Jacob Misiorowski, Phillies first baseman/outfielder Bryce Harper and Rays third baseman Junior Caminero debuted during Game 1 of the World Series on Friday.

“These ceremonial first pitches are getting bigger and bigger,” Misiorowski jokes as The Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards and his elastic arm take the mound.
The video features a sneak peek at a brand-new scene from “Avengers: Doomsday” taking place at Ebbets Field, with the Fantastic Four throwing the ceremonial first pitch, but with a few familiar faces in the dugout cut into the scene for the special World Series promo. The scene takes place in the world of the Fantastic Four, first introduced in 2025’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” and Reed Richards wears a Brooklyn Dodgers cap. Could this retro-future be a world where the Dodgers and Giants never left New York? And does that mean that Freeman would be a Brooklyn Dodger in this universe?
This isn’t the first time the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made reference to Major League Baseball. In “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Steve Rogers woke up to a Brooklyn Dodgers game on the radio. Paul Swydan determined it was a May 25, 1941, game between the Phillies and Dodgers.
The promo ends with the arrival of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in the skies over the field. Harper notices the character’s arrival and tells the group, “We gotta go. Like, now,” in hopes of rallying MLB’s best to come to the aid of the Avengers.

“There’s no bigger stage in baseball than the World Series, and we’re thrilled to share this special ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ piece with fans," says Disney Entertainment Studios Head of Marketing Martha Morrison.
“Avengers: Doomsday” arrives in theaters Dec. 18, when all the questions will be answered. Including, presumably, if Reed Richards’ impressive arm extension is enough to get the attention of any Major League scouts.
