Few hitters in Minor League Baseball have been more dangerous with the bases loaded this season than Emil Morales.
MLB’s No. 24 prospect belted his fourth career grand slam -- his second of the season -- as part of a 4-for-5 night in High-A Great Lakes' 6-5 loss to Fort Wayne on Wednesday at Parkview Field. This season when hitting with the bases loaded, Morales has gone 10-for-13 with 29 RBIs and a 2.286 OPS.
The Dodgers’ No. 4 prospect got his big night started in the first inning, showing off a solid two-strike approach by flaring a 1-2 curveball from Winyer Chourio (SD No. 15) into right field for a base hit. In the third, Morales laced the right-hander's 1-1 fastball into left for a single.
The 19-year-old was presented with his first run production opportunity of the night an inning later. With bases loaded and two away, Morales teed off on a 0-1 slider in the bottom of the zone from righty Carlos Medina and sent a towering blast over the batter's eye in center for a grand slam -- the fourth of his career.
