The Dodgers erased a five-run deficit in Sunday’s 8-6 win over the Nationals to secure a sweep in the nation’s capital.

Trailing 6-1 after four innings, the Dodgers scored two runs in the sixth inning on a two-run home run from before taking the lead with a four-run eighth inning on the way to their fifth comeback win already this year. That five-run deficit was tied for the club's largest comeback win dating back to the 2023 season. (It's had seven comeback wins of five runs in that time.)

“There are no holes on this team. You look at our bench, you look at our starters -- we have some of the best players on the field obviously starting games,” Rushing said. “We also have some of the best players on the bench. It’s part of being a Dodger. You swallow your pride and do whatever you can to help the team win.”

also pushed his MLB-best on-base streak to 40 straight games, thanks to a loud 438-foot home run in the third inning that left his bat at 114.6 mph. Ohtani also added a double in the fifth inning, making it his first game with multiple extra-base hits this season.

Despite a tough start from Roki Sasaki, the Dodgers showed why they’re baseball’s best team and how their deep lineup can strike at any given moment. Los Angeles’ latest win pushed its record to 7-2 and it remains the only team above .500 in the NL West.

“It was a good fight. We just didn't quit. We hung in there and the at-bats, just kept grinding, played good defense,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters. “It is a mark of our ball club that every out matters, every game matters, and that's important because every game does matter.”

LA’s latest win also comes just ahead of the Dodgers’ World Series rematch with the Blue Jays, which will begin on Monday in Toronto. Left-hander Justin Wrobleski will make his first start of the season in the series opener against former Dodger Max Scherzer.
