We finally know Freddie Freeman's weakness: hitting against position player pitchers.
The Dodgers' star joined the latest episode of The 6-1-1 Podcast with Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins. And of course, the three of them had to talk about the time Freeman struck out against Anthony Rizzo.
"I am the worst position-player-hitting person there is," Freeman lamented as he, Howard and Rollins rewatched footage of the infamous at-bat, which happened when Freeman was with the Braves and Rizzo with the Cubs in 2021.
Freeman was the reigning National League MVP at the time, he was 4-for-4 with two home runs in the game … and Rizzo struck him out with a 61 mph "curveball."
"I'd rather face 102 [mph]," Freeman said on The 6-1-1. "Because I'm like, 'I have an approach, I'm gonna try to do this with this.' Here, I'm just seeing Anthony laughing at me."
It was all in good fun, though. Freeman and Rizzo both had a good laugh about the K. Actually, both of them were laughing throughout the whole showdown.
"How do you keep it together?" Howard asked Freeman on the podcast.
"I can't," Freeman answered. "Obviously I can't, because this ended up with me striking out."
