PITTSBURGH -- Dodgers left-hander Justin Wrobleski left his start against the Pirates in the fifth inning of the club's 8-6 win on Thursday night with a right hamstring contusion after he collided with Pittsburgh left fielder Bryan Reynolds at first base.
Reynolds hit a ball back through the box that caromed off Wrobleski and toward first baseman Freddie Freeman. Wrobleski raced to cover first base and collided with Reynolds at the bag while taking the throw from Freeman. Reynolds beat the play for a single as both he and Wrobleski tumbled to the ground.
Wrobleski was attended to by the Dodgers athletic trainers and then pulled from the game with Will Klein coming on in relief.
Wrobleski allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings, striking out one. He entered the night with a 7-2 record and 2.62 ERA in 11 games (10 starts), having proved himself a key arm in the Dodgers' rotation.
Both Wrobleski and manager Dave Roberts are confident he will not miss a start, with Roberts adding that it is unlikely the southpaw will be placed on the injured list.
“I’ll get some treatment on it, and I’ll be fine,” Wrobleski said. “I don’t think it’s a big deal. Just a little frustrating.”
