LOS ANGELES -- Shohei Ohtani is on the cusp of another career milestone.
The Dodgers' two-way superstar put his team ahead with a two-run blast in the third inning of Monday night's series opener against the Rockies at Dodger Stadium. Ohtani's 19th long ball of the season was also the 299th of his career.
If the Dodgers had any lingering concerns about the right biceps tightness that caused Ohtani to sit out of Saturday's game, Ohtani did his best to quell them with the booming shot off Rockies left-hander Kyle Freeland.
After drilling a 111.8 mph lineout to center in the first inning, Ohtani jumped on a first-pitch cutter from Freeland in the third, launching it out to left-center at 105.9 mph off the bat.
Of Ohtani's 299 career homers, 128 have come in his three seasons as a Dodger.
