Yamamoto looks for revenge against Giants in NL West faceoff

LOS ANGELES -- will take the mound on Tuesday night as the Dodgers continue a four-game home series against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.

Fans can watch the matchup at 7:10 p.m. PT on SportsNet LA as well as MLB Network and MLB.TV.

The start marks Yamamoto’s second look at the Giants this season. In their previous meeting on April 21, the right-hander navigated seven innings and allowed three earned runs, a performance that showcased his ability to provide length against divisional opponents. Yamamoto enters Tuesday with a 2.92 ERA in four home starts, coming off a May 4 outing against Houston in which he struck out eight across six innings.

The efficiency of the starting rotation has remained a primary focus for the Dodgers as the club continues to navigate several injuries to the pitching staff. The Dodgers made several roster moves over the weekend, selecting the contract of right-hander Wyatt Mills on Sunday while optioning Paul Gervase back to Triple-A Oklahoma City. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club transferred Edwin Díaz to the 60-day injured list as he continues to recover from an elbow injury.

With also on the injured list with back spasms and Brock Stewart placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday, a deep outing from Yamamoto would provide stability for a pitching staff that has seen significant turnover in the last 48 hours.

In his previous start against San Francisco, Yamamoto’s fastball velocity and location improved after a three-run first inning, setting up the effectiveness of his curveball and splitter. That adjustment allowed him to settle in and make it through seven strong frames -- a trend he’ll look to continue against a Giants lineup featuring several prominent left-handed hitters.

With three starters currently on the injured list, maintaining this trend of efficiency will be key as the Dodgers look to manage a bullpen that has seen frequent usage over the last week.
