JUPITER, Fla. -- Marlins shortstop prospect Aiva Arquette underwent core muscle surgery on Friday and will miss four to six weeks.
Arquette, who ranks as MLB Pipeline’s No. 47 overall prospect, arrived in Jupiter with a pre-existing left groin injury that occurred during offseason workouts back home in Hawaii. When Arquette sustained the injury, he stopped activities to rest and recover.

The discomfort remained after Arquette resumed activities at the Marlins Jupiter Academy.
Upon evaluation by Dr. William Meyers, the procedure was recommended. The timeline to return to baseball activities is four to six weeks.
The 22-year-old Arquette, whom the Marlins selected seventh overall in last summer’s MLB Draft, began his professional career at High-A Beloit. In 27 games, he hit .242/.350/.323 with five doubles, one homer and 10 RBIs for a Sky Carp ballclub that played in the Midwest League playoffs.
