Jeter announces trio of exec-level Marlins hires

MIAMI -- The Marlins have added three executives to their leadership team.
On Wednesday morning, the organization announced the hiring of Elisa Padilla as senior vice president of marketing and community relations, Travis Apple as vice president of ticket sales and service and Michael Shaw as vice president and head of customer engagement.
"As we continue to build this organization, the addition of these innovative and accomplished individuals is an important step in the process of delivering a first-class experience our fans deserve," Marlins chief executive officer Derek Jeter said in a statement.
The three hires have more than 50 years combined of experience in sales, marketing and customer service.
"These executives each bring a unique set of skills and diversity that will provide us more opportunities to build on our early success in the South Florida business community and continue to re-engage with partners on a local and national level," said Chip Bowers, the Marlins' president of business operations.
Padilla, with nearly 25 years in marketing, previously worked for Apple, AT&T, HBO Sports, Nickelodeon and People en Español. Most recently, she served as the vice president of marketing for the Howard Hughes Corporation. Her vast background in professional sports includes stints with the NBA, the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. She also was involved in establishing the brand identity for Barclays Center.
Apple spent the past two years as senior director at NBA Team Marketing and Business Operations. His background includes stints with the Phoenix Suns as vice president of ticket sales and service, and with the Orlando Magic as senior director of ticket sales.
Additionally, Apple has experience in Major League Baseball, having served as the director of new business development for the Pirates; he oversaw premium seating, new business development and inside sales staff.
Shaw has an expansive background in fan engagement over his 15-year professional career. Most recently, he served in an executive capacity at Amazon Tickets, where he assisted in the development of the division's ticket business strategy.
From Tamarac, Fla., Shaw graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. His background includes four years of experience at ESPN in programming and acquisitions.
