In his first start since being activated off the Minor League injured list, Marlins No. 2 prospect (and the No. 33 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline) Edward Cabrera was impressive for Single-A Jupiter. While he walked three batters, he also struck out seven and yielded just one hit over four innings against Palm Beach on Wednesday.

Cabrera was shut down from throwing and placed on the injured list in early April due to a right biceps injury. A biceps issue also sidelined him last season, with an inflamed nerve delaying his season debut until June 6.

The 24-year-old right-hander was impressive in his lone Grapefruit League start this spring, striking out three over three hitless innings against the Nationals on March 28. He had been eased into Spring Training because of a late arrival to camp due to a visa issue, as well as an abnormal offseason training regimen due to the lockout.

Cabrera made his MLB debut with Miami last season, posting a 5.81 ERA over seven starts. He walked 19 and struck out 28 over 26 1/3 innings. He features a fastball that can reach triple digits on the radar gun, and his best secondary offering is a darting slider. His repertoire also includes a power curveball and a changeup.

Across three levels in the Minors last year -- Single-A through Triple-A -- Cabrera had a 2.93 ERA over 13 starts (61 1/3 innings) and struck out 36.9 percent of the batters he faced, though he also walked 10 percent.
