Marlins to tweak FanFest plans for '21

January 15th, 2021

MIAMI -- Marlins FanFest will not resemble its typical iteration in 2021, but the organization intends to hold a fan experience closer to Opening Day. Miami is scheduled to open the season against Tampa Bay on April 1 at 4:10 p.m. ET at Marlins Park.

In years past, Marlins FanFest took place at the ballpark leading up to when pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training in early February.

"We are looking forward to our players returning to the field and having fans back in the ballpark for Marlins games in 2021," the team said in a statement on Friday. "In lieu of our traditional FanFest, we are exploring a fan experience to celebrate the start of the season closer to Opening Day -- which is just under 11 weeks away. We know our fans are excited to re-unite and enjoy the fun times at Marlins Park."

The Marlins continue to plan for fans to return to the ballpark this season as they put into place specific safety protocols. A announcement regarding these Marlins Park safety plans will be made by the club in the future, according to a source.
