MIAMI -- The holiday season is set to begin, and the Marlins have already embraced the spirit of giving.
Last Friday, team executives and employees assisted in the Marlins' annual turkey distribution at Marlins Park. On Monday, club officials made a donation to Miami-Dade County Parks for the renovation of four baseball fields at Tropical Park.
"We want to be great partners with the community," Marlins chief executive officer Derek Jeter said. "It's events like these that are very meaningful. We said that from Day One, we are going to be very involved. We've gotten a lot of support."
The Marlins have been on the go this past week, starting with the rebranding of the team logo and uniforms, which were unveiled last Thursday and Friday.
Also on Friday, Jeter, along with right-handers and , assisted in the annual Marlins Neighborhood Thanksgiving Distribution at Marlins Park.
On the West Plaza, Marlins employees assisted in distributing 1,000 turkeys and trimmings to local residents. The Marlins worked in partnership with Feeding South Florida and local community agencies.

Local politicians attended, and the Marlins presented Feeding South Florida a contribution of $20,000.
"Someone asked recently what I was most proud of from the organization, up until this point," Jeter said. "I have to say, we've spent a lot of time connecting with the community. That never stops. That continues, year in, year out. We're spending a lot of time getting to know our community, giving them an opportunity to get to know us. We really want to be hands on."
Jeter, along with Marlins president of business operations Chip Bowers and president of baseball operations Michael Hill, were at Tropical Park in Miami on Monday afternoon to do their part in promoting youth baseball in the community.
The Marlins donated $170,000 to Miami-Dade County Parks for the renovations.
"These are very special events, especially this time of year," Jeter said.
Miami-Dade County mayor Carlos Gimenez and Miami-Dade County commissioner Javier Souto were also in attendance.
Former Marlins first baseman and current FOX Sports Florida analyst Gaby Sanchez also attended both events. Sanchez grew up in Miami and played collegiately at the University of Miami, before breaking into the big leagues with the Marlins.
"It definitely means probably more to me, just because it's my city," Sanchez said. "It's where I was born and raised and grew up. So giving back to my community is definitely better. But even when I was with other teams in other cities, you just want to give back. It makes you feel a lot better to be able to do that than actually receiving anything at all."
At Friday's turkey distribution at Marlins Park, Alcantara and Urena devoted their time giving back to local residents.
"It's giving back and helping out the community," Alcantara said through an interpreter. "Helping out the Latin community here and the Dominican community here in Miami, it's something that we love to do every year. It's great seeing their happy faces."
Added Urena: "We're just here supporting the people, taking care of the people. The Marlins organization is here for the people of Miami. We're doing everything we can for the community."
