The Mets are acquiring left-handed reliever Bryan Hudson from the White Sox for cash considerations, the team announced on Tuesday. Right-hander Reed Garrett was placed on the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
Last season with the White Sox and Brewers, the 28-year-old posted a 4.80 ERA in 16 games, fanning 19 over 15 innings. Chicago claimed the 6-foot-8 Hudson off waivers from Milwaukee last August and then designated him for assignment on Feb. 4.
Hudson, who produced a sterling 1.73 ERA in 43 games with Milwaukee in 2024, looks to join a Mets bullpen that already boasts two lefty relievers in A.J. Minter and Brooks Raley.
Hudson would become the tallest player to appear for the Mets since Dellin Betances (also 6-foot-8) in 2021. The tallest player in team history is the 6-foot-11 right-hander Jon Rauch, who made 73 relief appearances for New York in 2012.
