Mets finalize 25-man roster for Opening Day

NEW YORK -- The Mets tidied up their roster Sunday in advance of Opening Day, making their final spring transactions.

The team selected infielder Omar Quintanilla's contract, thereby adding him to the active roster as their backup middle infielder. The Mets also re-assigned infielders Anthony Seratelli and Eric Campbell, catcher Taylor Teagarden, and pitchers Daisuke Matsuzaka and Kyle Farnsworth to Triple-A Las Vegas.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Quintanilla, the Mets placed pitcher Matt Harvey on the 60-day disabled list. Harvey will spend the entire season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. The Mets also placed left-handed Jon Niese on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21, with plans to activate him for his first start April 6.

The resulting Opening Day roster is as follows:

Catchers: Travis d'Arnaud, Anthony Recker.

Infielders: Ike Davis, Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy, Quintanilla, Ruben Tejada, Josh Satin, David Wright.

Outfielders: Andrew Brown, Curtis Granderson, Juan Lagares, Chris Young, Eric Young Jr.

Starting pitchers: Bartolo Colon, Dillon Gee, Jenrry Mejia, Zack Wheeler.

Relief pitchers: Jeurys Familia, Gonzalez Germen, John Lannan, Bobby Parnell, Scott Rice, Carlos Torres, Jose Valverde.

Opening Day is Monday against the Nationals at 1:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field.
