Aramis Ramirez of the Milwaukee Brewers named National League Player of the Week

Third baseman Aramis Ramirez of the Milwaukee Brewers has been named National League Player of the Week for June 29th-July 5th. The announcement was made earlier today on MLB Network.

Ramirez hit a Major League-best .545 last week, collecting 12 hits in 22 at bats over seven games, while his .577 on-base percentage was tied with teammate Adam Lind for baseball's top mark. The 37-year-old also had 11 RBI (2nd in NL), a .773 slugging percentage (6th in NL) and 17 total bases (tied for sixth in NL), and clubbed two doubles with a home run, a stolen base and four runs scored. Ramirez collected at least one hit and one RBI in each of his seven outings, including five multi-hit games, leading Milwaukee to a perfect 7-0 record for the week. On Sunday, the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native capped his week with a 2-for-4 effort that included a run-scoring single in the top of the first, en-route to a 6-1 victory at Cincinnati. Ramirez also had two hits and an RBI in Saturday's matchup between the two clubs. He clubbed his 10th home run of the season in Friday's series opener at Great American Ball Park on the way to a 12-1 win, giving him double-digit home runs for the 15th consecutive season. Ramirez's two-run double in the third inning on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Phillies staked the Brew Crew to a 4-0 lead in an eventual 9-5 victory at Citizens Bank Park. He had two run-scoring singles in Tuesday's tilt at Philly, driving in two in the top of the first and tying the game at 3-3 in the eighth in a 4-3 win. Ramirez alsoswiped his first base in nearly a year - just the 29th stolen base of his 18-year career. This is his fourth career NL Player of the Week honor and first since winning for the week ending July 3, 2011 while a member of the Chicago Cubs. 

Other noteworthy performances last week included Pittsburgh's Neil Walker (.464, 13 H, 2 HR, 9 RBI, .750 SLG, .516 OBP); Colorado's Jorge De La Rosa (2-0, 1.38 ERA, 10 SO, 13.0 IP); Philadelphia's Freddy Galvis (.481, 13 H, .533 OBP) and Cesar Hernandez (.433, 13 H, 4 RBI, 5 SB); Milwaukee's Jonathan Lucroy (.429, 12 H, 9 R, .515 OBP) and Adam Lind (.360, 3 HR, 12 RBI, .760 SLG); Chicago's Kyle Hendricks (2-0, 0.00 ERA, 12 SO, 13.1 IP); and Washington's Jordan Zimmermann (2- 0, 0.61 ERA, 14 SO, 14.2 IP).
